WCW: News on new storylines, future PPVs, Tammy Sytch and more
- The idea that Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff proposed was to have a new vs. old angle, with one man leading the new wrestler team and the other leading the old wrestler team, with Russo probably being the man leading the new team and Bischoff leading the old. That may be the big angle that WCW plans to unveil starting Monday at the April 10 Nitro from Denver, Colorado.
- The July 9 Bash at the Beach PPV will be hyped up totally different in order to garner a bigger buy rate. A Goldberg doll will be the free gift offered to all who purchase the event, as well a contest to win a chance to accompany Goldberg down the aisle at a future event. The announcers have also been told to plug all PPVs more often starting with that one so the PPVs will have more emphasis and significance riding on them.
- Chuck Palumbo, Alan Funk, and a third WCW wrestler will be heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling this month as members of Keiji Muto's (The Great Muta's) WCW group in an interpromotional angle.
- Brad Armstrong will be out for several months with a knee injury after Psychosis and Juventud Guerrera was goofing off in their rental car in the parking area and ran over Brad Armstrong. They ran over him enough to injure him severely backstage while reprising an angle of running him over. Armstrong also had a recent blow-up with WCW management backstage at a TV taping about how he was being used.
- Booking called for Tammy Lynn Sytch to debut on April 16 at the Spring Stampede PPV, with her attacking Paisley when she would try to interfere in the previously scheduled Chris Candido vs. The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea Cruiserweight Title match. That will probably now be scrapped due to the recent WCW management changes that have taken place.
- Les Thetcher's Heartland Wrestling Association signed a 2-year minor league deal with WCW. He was negotiating with both the WWF and WCW, but WCW offered him the better deal, which he accepted. Thetcher will do a graduate training course for the WCW Power Plant wrestlers, and he will be running six shows per month featuring those graduates to further prepare them for a future career in WCW.
