WCW Thunder Results - April 26, 2000

9:05pm - 11:05pm EST - Channel TBS

Thunder, this week starts up with clips from Monday’s Nitro.

In the parking lot outside arena, a Cadillac pulls up. Kimberly, Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff get out of the car, Jeff than drags David Arquette from the back seat. Jarrett and Bischoff lead Arquette out to the arena and into the ring. Jarrett mocks Arquette about his "buddy" not being at the hotel, when he came to pick him up. Jarrett threatens to break Arquette’s neck if DDP doesn’t come out. DDP and Kanyon come walking up and halt half way up the aisle way. Jarrett challenges Page to a tag team match. Page/Arquette Vs. Bischoff/Jarrett. Whoever gets the pin, wins the WCW Heavyweight title. Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell appear on the ramp, Jarrett threatens Page that if he doesn’t give him the match, the New Bloods will take care of him. Ric Flair and Lex Luger sneak up on Douglas and Bagwell, they then attack them sending them to the back. Page and Kanyon rush the ring, as Jarrett and Bischoff flee with Arquette in their grasp. Kanyon runs after them, leaving Kimberly and Page alone in the ring. Kimberly slaps Page, he grabs her and motions for the Diamond Cutter but releases. He begins to walk away but she low blows him. She then leaves the ring quickly.

(Backstage, Mean Gene interviews the Cat. The Cat will be facing Bam Bam Bigelow tonight. Gene speculates that Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff weren’t pleased with the Cat’s action on Nitro, of attacking Bam Bam during a Hard Core match with Terry Funk. The Cat shrugs off the matter, and states he doesn’t care what they think.)

(Jarrett, Bischoff and Kimberly are seen walking through a dark hallway. Jarrett pushes Arquette down the ground as Bischoff and Jarrett mock David, by asking him if he’s 1-800-having fun yet?)

The Cat Vs. Bam Bam Bigelow

Cat grabs the microphone before the match. He asks Bam Bam to forgive him for his actions. Cat says that Bam Bam is his hero and that he looks up to Bigelow. Cat asks Bam Bam to forgive his actions, so that Cat can pummel someone else. Cat puts down Bam Bam’s mother by stating Bam Bam’s breasts are bigger than her’s. Bam Bam comes into the ring and goes right at Cat. Bam Bam knocks Cat down and then proceeds to get a chair from the outsider. Ms. Hancock makes her way out with Clipboard in hand. The referee tugs the chair from Bam Bam, Cat springs up and nails Bam Bam with a hard kick. The Cat covers Bigelow quickly for the three count.

After the match, the Cat begins to dance but Bigelow regains his composure and clothes lines Cat. Bam Bam then makes his way out of the ring and back up the aisle way.

(Backstage, Page is shown walking around, he checks in a room for David Arquette but finds nobody.)

(In the parking lot we see Kidman and Torrie pull up in a BWM.)

(Backstage in the dark hallway, Bischoff yells at Arquette that he’ll let him go. Arquette makes a move but Jarrett clotheslines him back down to the ground.)

"The Perfect One" Shawn Stasiak Vs. Chris Kanyon

After both wrestlers make their entrances, Curt Hennig makes her way down to the ring with a bottle of water in hand. Hennig joins the commentary booth. Kanyon and Stasiak lock up, Stasiak off the ropes and hits a shoulder block on Kanyon. Both wrestlers pause for a second. Kanyon gets a side headlock, Kanyon off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Stasiak gets back up and knocks down Kanyon. Shawn climbs the ropes and boasts to the crowd. Shawn hits a body slam and then climbs the ropes for a top rope cross body splash. Hennig puts on a pair of brass knuckles and leaves the commentary table. He climbs up onto the apron as Kanyon sends Stasiak into Hennig who nails him with the knuckles. Kanyon pins him easily for the victory.

After the match, Hennig climbs in to the ring and assaults Stasiak both physically and vocally. Mike Awesome comes running down and attacks Kanyon. Curt Hennig leaves as, Kanyon ends up getting Awesome Bombed into the commentary table. Page comes down to protect Kanyon from any more abuse from Stasiak and Awesome. Page grabs a microphone and states that he accepts the challenge issue by Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett. (In the backstage area, Torrie is shown making her way down a flight of stairs.)

*Recap of Kanyon getting Awesome Bombed through the commentary table is shown*

Kidman and Torrie make their way out to the ring. The camera shows Marc Mero and Ray Rinaldi in the front row. The announcers point it out. Kidman recaps his rivalry with Hulk Hogan as of late. Kidman states how Hogan said that he couldn’t even headline a flea market. Kidman says the fans love him and that people want their kids to be like him. Kidman states that Hogan is in some Tampa Bay hospital because he put him there. Kidman challenges anyone in the back to a match. Torrie grabs the microphone and says that she loves seeing Kidman sweat, and that she can’t wait till he defeats someone so that she can give the "kiss of death".

Kidman w/ Torrie Vs. Horace Hogan

American Made starts up, as Horace Hogan comes out. Horace dominating Kidman in the early going. Horace clotheslines Kidman up and over the top rope, he follows him out but Kidman gains the advantage by slamming him into the ring pole. Kidman rolls him back in and follows as he maintains his advantage. Horace gains control once more but Kidman hits a spin kick and gains advantage. Kidman goes up top for the Shoot Star Press but falls off with Horace playing possum. Horace whips Kidman off the ropes and slams him down to the mat. Horace then climbs to the outside and gets a chair. Horace leaves the chair on the apron and continues to dominate Kidman. Eric Bischoff makes his way out to ringsider to view the match. Horace climbs outside and gets a table set up on the mats. Horace is stopped on the ring apron by Torrie with a low blow. Horace recovers and grabs her by the hair. Bischoff grabs the chair and kicks the referee down. Eric nails Horace in the head with the chair, Kidman grabs Horace, springboards off the turnbuckle, leaps over the ropes and slams Horace into the table. A high flying bulldog. Kidman remains on top of Horace’s chest as Eric Bischoff counts the pin fall victory.

Winner via Pin Fall: Kidman

After the match Torrie kissed Horace on the cheek, the "Kiss of Death".

(Backstage, Tank Abbott is shown walking.)

Tank Abbott Interview

Tank makes fun of the fans for cheering for a coward who doesn’t show up at shows. Tank then states that yet another victim will go down tonight, for Goldberg’s no show. Tank then climbs out of the ring and makes an advance towards the Commentary table but then circles the ring, upon finding Marc Mero at ringside he challenges Mero to a fight. Ray Rinaldi jumps the guard rail followed by Marc Mero. A stare down between Tank and Mero beside the guard rail occurs. Tank roll into the ring to go after Rinaldi but Mero ccomes in to stop Tank. Tank and Marc tie up and exchange body blows until WCW Security come in and break up the "fight". (Backstage, Sting walks through a corridor door, still covered in the red liquid from the ending of Nitro.) What is with angles like these? Are they trying to prove that wrestlers do not bathe? Same thing with the old WWF angles involving the Brood’s "blood baths".)

(Backstage in the dark hallway, we see Arquette being led down the hall by Page. Page is stating that Arquette is unable to perform tonight but Arquette repeats to himself that he can do it.)

Tables Match: The Wall Vs. Sting

Sting makes his way down the aisle way tonight, instead of using the rafter’s entrance. Sting hits a big drop kick to start off the match. He pushes Wall out of the ring and down to the floor. Wall climbs back up onto the apron but Sting tries to knock Wall off. Sting runs into Wall but slips and falls to the outside. Sting then sets up for a power bomb standing on the floor as Wall is still on the apron. Sting slams Wall down through the table ending the match.

Winner via putting his opponent through the table: Sting

After the match Vampiro comes down. Vampiro and Wall double team Sting for a few moments but Wall is knocked out of the ring. Sting whips Vampiro into the corner and stinger splashes him. He then clotheslines him up and over the top rope. Wall takes another try at Sting but is jut knocked back down. (Backstage, Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell are seen walking with Vince Russo. Russ has a baseball bat in his hand, the three men boast about the New Blood.)

(Backstage, Sting is shown making his way through a door and out to the dark parking lot.)

Vince Russo, Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell Interview Russo states that upstate Rochester shouldn’t be apart of New York, because it just plain sucks. Buff grabs the microphone picks apart Lex Luger and says that he’ll find out that Buff is the stuff. Shane has the microphone now, states that his interview is a shoot. States that he will have Flair’s ass on a platter at Slamborre, because he’s the Franchise. Team Package with Elizabeth make their way out to the ramp. Russo says that he anticipated the Team Package interruption, a line of WCW Security block the ring from Luger and Flair. Whoa, Flair states that he can’t talk for Hogan, but that Hulk Hogan is the man and that he’s a White Collar Champion. Flair states that the fans have been going "WHOOO!" since 1985, and Luger has been going "ARGHHH!". Flair says that the two of them have been the blood of the sport since 1985 or so, and that they partied all night and then went to work the next day. Flair states that the "Millionaire’s Club" are the guys that made these people show up at events and made them LOVE wrestling. Flair says that Russo is a mark for the business and Flair. Ric Flair says that Douglas is not the Franchise of WCW, Sting is. He says that until Shane Dougal wrestles Sting, Piper, Hogan, Hart, Luger and others, he isn’t even close to him. Ric Flair then states that he’s run up bar tabs larger than the life long salary of Shane Douglas, Buff Bagwell and Vince Russo put together. Flair then puts out a challenge to Russo, that if Russo interferes in the tag mtahc at Slamborre, then he gets 5 minutes alone with him. Russo makes a comment of that he’s SUPPOSED to be a chicken shit heel now and shy away from Flair. He states that he’ll OWN Flair at Slamborre. Vince Russo says that he’s glad to see Luger survive that horrible car wreck, the Lex Express. Russo then says that he was looking up the WCW contracts and noticed that Lex Luger does not own Liz’ contract. Russo states that owns Liz. Security go up the ramp to "confiscate" Liz, but Flair and Luger fight them off. Luger and Flair then rush the ring but the New Blood tag team and Russo high tail it. Russo grabs Liz and takes her up the ramp, as more security hold Luger and Flair at ringside.

*During the break, Vince Russo pushes Elizabeth into a car. Russo drives off with Liz in his possession.*

(Backstage, Page is trying to get a doctor to tend to Arquette, but Arquette refuses treatment)

Tammy Sytch w/ Chris Candido Vs. Paisely w/ The Artist

Usual tie up into a roll around cat fight. Candido climbs up onto the apron and chokes Paisely with the rope. Artist comes around and stops him. As the men brawl on the outside, Tammy leaps off the top rope with a cross body. Back in the ring Tammy tries for a top rope move but is knocked off by Artist. Tammy hits a jawbreaker, but Candid comes in. The referee is distracted while Candido takes a run at Paisely. Paisely ducks and low blows Candido. Tammy then takes the advantage back and tries for a northern lights suplex but Paisely counters and drops Tammy with a DDT. Paisely covers for the victory.

Winner via Pin Fall: Paisely

After the match Candido comes in and DDTs Artist. Tammy jumps on Paisely and cat fight ensues. (Backstage, Booker is interviewed by Mean Gene. The interview is interrupted by Tyelene Buck who tries to persuade Booker into telling her information. She asks him what he will do against Mike Awesome tonight. In another locker room, Scott Stiener sees Booker on the television and storms out of his locker room.)

Booker (Still no T?) Vs. Mike Awesome After both entrances, Scott Stiener with his "ladies" comes out to a new theme. Stiener joins the commentary table. Back and forth match as Stiener berates the Millionaire’s Club. Booker hit an ax cut, spun up and went to go up top for the missile drop kick, but Stiener climbed the apron and hit Booker with the United States title. Mike Awesome hit a running Awesome Bomb followed by the pin fall. Winner via Pin Fall: Mike Awesome

After the match, Stiener applied the Stiener Recliner on Booker. Lash Leroux, Chavo Guerrero, Hugh Morrus and a few others came in and cleared the ring of Awesome and Steiner. Booker looks surprised at the help.

Bret Hart Interview

In his Calgary home, Bret Hart is interviewed by Scott Hudson. Notes from the interview:

-Hart believes there’s a conspiracy with Hogan. Hogan comes running back to WCW, when Hart is out with an injury.

-Hart states that he is not afraid of facing Hogan and that it’s odd that two stars haven’t been matched up yet.

-Hart states that this goes back to his days in the WWF, when Hogan refused to pass the torch before leaving for WCW. -

The main reason he came to WCW was to face Hulk Hogan.

-His doctors don’t know what’s in his future, but he has plenty of jobs if wrestling is no longer an option. -He wants to go out by having Hogan tap out to the Sharp Shooter.
