Wrestling NEWS

Usually, I don't like to watch Smackdown unless I have nothing to do, or something absolutely 'must-see' is on the show. On Thursday, I plan on watching the show, because after I read the spoilers, it looks to be something you *don't want to miss.* For those that HATE READING SPOILERS, just go onto the next paragraph. If you've read them too, you saw that Tazz [with Tommy Dreamer in his corner] fought HHH for the WWF World Title. ECW's official website is plugging the show saying that Dreamer cost Tazz the WWF Title, and Tazz is none too happy about it. I've got quite a big news-bit leading off that, so I'll keep you hanging and enjoy the Update...

First off, I'm starting today with two big pieces of information coming out of last Sunday's "Spring Stampede" PPV:

** One; DDP is extremely unhappy with the way things are coming out of the angle with he against his wife. When Russo approached him with the finish of the PPV match-up, DDP was said to be irate. DDP mentions this himself in today's "Union of the Diamond Cutters" message he puts out to his fans on DDPBang.Com; which you can check out anytime.

** Second; Mark Madden says he received word on late-Tuesday night that WCW's Uncensored buyrate is "remarkable." For what WCW gets, the number was quite spectacular -- a 0.27. That nearly doubles up "Uncensored" and ranks WCW in the fourth spot for the most purchased Sports-PPV of the year.

Some are saying that Brian Christopher, also known as Grand Master Sexay, will return from his knee injury only to feud with his tag-partner Scottie 2 Hottie [Scott Taylor] over the WWF Lightweight Title. Actually, WWF only strapped that belt around Scott's waist simply for the fact that the WWF Creative Team doesn't want "Too Cool" going stale with Christopher on the sidelines. That way, while Taylor has the belt, "Too Cool" lives up to its moniker.

Because the fans really aren't over with Dustin Rhodes "shoot" gimmick, once this whole Terry Funk angle is over, expect Rhodes to be repackaged. One suggestion that the WCW Bookers are looking at, as well as Vince Russo mentioning it on television, is the 'Goldust' character. As for that horrid "Se7en" gimmick we saw back in autumn, look for that to just stay buried permanently.

If it sounds like I've got too much WCW tidbits as of late, I apologize. However, I really can't help it because WCW just has so many things revolving around it at once that a lot of interesting tidbits seem to be flying all over the place. Anyway, continuing with the WCW page, many fans will be glad to hear this one. Booker T. will finally get that long-deserved push, and it may even lead up to him capturing the US Title from Scott Steiner at "Slamboree." Booker clocked Scott Steiner on Nitro, as you saw the start of this face-push, and it will elevate [as I just said] to many more things in the near-future. On "WCW: Live!" yesterday, Bob Ryder, in his own words, said that Booker will "...heavily be involved in upcoming weeks."

Speaking of Monday night, let's jump over to Nitro's competition... RAW. Sure, you saw the head-to-head numbers, which revealed a monster 6.2 for RAW with an extremely low 2.1 for Nitro. However, a massive outcome like 6.2 was still slaughtered by the ever-so-notorious... Discovery Channel. Yes, for the second time this year, Discovery has done a dinosaur special [this time it was "Walking with Dinosaurs"] only to pull in an extremely well 8.0 rating, to head this week's Cable-Best. Who the hell watches that crap? [Wait, I'm sure the Discovery Channel newsboard reporters are saying the same thing about Wrestling, so I gotta' watch out.]

Going back to some quick WCW news, Mark Kerr is the last person to make his confirmation to WCW that he will take part in the "Fight Club" group in WCW. Among Kerr would be other former shoot-fighters, such as Don Frye, Mark Coleman, Tank Abbott, and possibly former tag-champ' Rick Steiner. More on this supposed angle should be released later in the week...

The ECW 'Hardcore-Hotline' is reporting that this weekend's "CyberSlam" is now SOLD-OUT! Many ECW stars will be at the ECW Arena this Saturday, the 22nd, for the yearly show, including WWF superstar... Tazz. As I began to refer to in my opening paragraph, it does look like the WWF/ECW bond continues, as Tazz may drop his ECW World Title to Tommy Dreamer at CyberSlam 2000, as ECWwrestling.com hinted. For the entire card, visit ECW's website, as I just saw that Steve Corino vs. Dusty Rhodes has been added, along with many more...

**Ah, yes. It's simply that time again where I like to take a break midway through my Update, and just throw something real quick by you. Just wondering... do you know how many titles that TEST has held in the WWF? Or maybe, what is RAVEN's real-name? Or, how about Terry Funk's exact birthday? If you know the answer to these, then you might be one-step closer to earning yourself a trivia prize-package of *FIVE WWF Diva Posters,* which includes Debra, Terri, Jacky, The Kat, & Ivory! It's simple, be the first to answer ALL TEN questions right, and you win, so just click ->*HERE*<- or visit http://www.TheWrestlingWire.com/**

Thank goodness that ECW superstar Lance Storm has finally cleared things up, regarding those rumors of him leaving ECW for one of The Big 2. Lance clears it all up in the following clip you see below, taken straight from his StormWrestling.com commentary...

"Speaking of roster strength brings me to my status with ECW. All of the rumors you have heard and read about me giving notice and quitting ECW are FALSE! The news of me signing a 30-day contract however, is true. What happens after those 30 days is undetermined. I am very happy in ECW but I intend to look at all my options before committing to any long-term arrangement. I figure I owe that to my family and myself."

A lot of people are asking me what the hell that "Triple-Deck Cage Match" that we'll see at 'Slamboree,' is. Basically, as I briefly mentioned a couple times this past week, it's one huge cage, that's below a middle-sized cage, that's below a kennel-like cage. On the top of the little cage is where the WCW World Title will be hung, and to get there, you need a ladder [for the first deck] a chain-ladder [for the second] as well as sheer climbing ability for the last and final one. Once you've reached that peak, it's well above 30 feet in the air, and if you haven't seen Ready to Rumble, it's quite an awesome site.
