I hope this keeps up, because on Tuesday's for the past year or so, I've just felt the same old thing... RAW was good, Nitro stunk. However, that's the past as I was saying, and for two straight weeks, Nitro and RAW have both given each other some good competition, as well as they've both put on fabulous shows. I thought RAW's whole opening half hour was terrific, as Nitro was very good as well, and I was happy to see Booker T.'s push start-up, among many other things. What'd you like best about both shows last night? I'd be glad to take a look at your thoughts; just e-mail me. Anyway, enough gibberish as I'm on a bit short on time here, so enjoy the Update...
First off, as NWA's Press Release says it best, "Do You Smell What The Rock is Cooking ... in Puerto Rico?" NWA and the WWF have agreed to have Vince send some talent down to Bayamon, P.R. for a big IWA show. IWA is a sister-promotion to the NWA, and is quickly growing in popularity. IWA actually has quite a bit of hidden secrets revolving inside of it, as they currently are the working employers of current WWF scout/wrestler, Savio Vega, as well as Golga and Silva of the then known "Oddities." Anyway, that Puerto Rico show will be just before Backlash weekend, on April 28th at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium.
When I signed on the other night, I noticed on the AOL 5.0 "Welcome Menu" that Sting was featured for an 'AOL: Live!' chat at 6PM. I went to it around 6:15, and got bored waiting, so I just picked up a transcript I saw lying around, and shortened it up a bit. Among the key notes he provided to those in the chat...
*Over the past three years or so, he's been VERY close to wanting out of WCW and signing with the WWF. He says that as of now, however, he likes where he is and has no current plans to jump-ship.
* Sting gives his 'props to Russo. Says he's done a great job, and only expects more out of the "booking genius."
*If [and when] he does leave Pro Wrestling, acting will be pursued. He says he loves it, and it's quickly growing as a passion; second to Wrestling.
* I thought this was funny, but The Stinger mentioned he does his own makeup during every single show. That takes anywhere from ten minutes to a half-hour, give or take.
*On one more quick note, Sting explained that he has been best friends in the business with Lex Luger for over twelve years. Sting exclaimed he was one of the top sources that led Luger to jump from WWF on over to Turner-Land.
If you follow ECW to the lash of an eye, then you've noticed that Simon Diamond has been accompanied to the ring by a new female valet ever since last week. Although ECW announced her nameless at those shows, she actually will go by the name "Prodajet." When she is finally introduced to more ECW-on-TNN time, she'll play the role of Prodigy's [Tom Marquez] twin-sister. Prodajet has actually wrestled previous to entering ECW, as she competed with NWA-England under the name "Riptide."
Vince Russo was said to be pleased with the entire outcome of the "Spring Stampede" PPV, excluding the "Suicide Six-Way" match for the Cruiserweight Belt. I've learned that the match not only wound up completely taking wild turns throughout the match, but the only thing that was actually finished right was the ending. Once Chris Candido won the belt and the next match begun, all participants are said to have apologized to Russo for the mess-up's. At one point, the chaos left the ring and went to the ring entrance, as when Tammy Lynn made her debut, she tripped during her run-in.
**Don't stop reading the Update just yet; there's STILL MORE! However, yesterday, my "Fyre" gallery was so popular, that we've decided to add "Fyre: The Sizzling Sequel" TODAY! If you thought yesterday's pictures of the former WCW Nitro Girl in PLAYBOY were hot, wait until you get a load of TODAY's load of photo's. Let me just say, this girl likes her body, and shows us why... For the entire Fyre Gallery, simply click --->*HERE*<--- or check out http://www.TheWrestlingWire.com/**
As I mentioned a few paragraphs above, you could see that wrestlers can attribute to hiring their friends for their current promotion. [I referred to Sting getting Luger into WCW, away from WWF.] Currently, it looks as if Shane Douglas is "playing the Sting" while Sabu is "playing the Luger." As odd as that might sound, Shane Douglas confirmed it while on "WCW: Live!" the other night, saying that Sabu is "the hardest damn worker in the business..." along with various other comments of how Sabu could be such a major asset to the company. Obviously, WCW realizes this as they have tried to pick him up before. Now, with Paul Heyman's legal-threats a little less-demanding, WCW may take another stab at hiring the former ECW star.
To add to the faction in WCW you know as "The Millionaires," Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff are looking back at Roddy Piper for making a few up-and-coming appearances. Piper would play the same role he did the last time we saw him, except I doubt he'll play that "lowly referee" once again. Piper actually only has six more PPV's left on his WCW contract, which means he could very well be out of WCW by the start of 2001. The same goes for Hulk Hogan, as he has the same detail in his contract, as well.
Lastly here today, I came across some reports that show the rumored "Slamboree 2000" card. If the card correctly predicts the future, hell, it doesn't look like that bad of a show... at all...
* Hulk Hogan Vs. Billy Kidman
* Kevin Nash Vs. Mike Awesome
* Sting Vs. Vampiro
* Chris Candido Vs. The Artist
* Buff/Shane Vs. Kronic
* Terry Funk Vs. Dustin Rhodes
* Booker T. Vs. Scott Steiner
* Jeff Jarrett Vs. DDP [Doomsay Cage Match; as seen in Ready to Rumble]
