Thunder begins with Disco Inferno coming out. He says the Filthy Animals are fired and he is about to introduce his new tag team partner, when Konnan comes out. They have an impromptu match. Konnan dominated the match. Then, out of nowhere, Alex Wright comes out and jumps down off the apron, holding onto Konnan. Disco does the chart buster and gets the win. As he and Wright leave, Rey and Juvy meet them but Disco and Wright run out through the side entrance. Backstage, Mike Sanders is dressed in a suit. He walks into the Cat's locker room and notices he isn't there. He goes to Russo's and Russo isn't there either. He sits at Russo's table. Head of Security, Doug Dillenger came in to escort him out. Sanders showed a letter to Dillenger which said he was in chage tonight. After the commercial break, the Natural Born Thrillers were in the locker room with Sanders. They were watching the footage of the tag title tournament. Sanders then said that Norman Smiley is being stripped of the WCW Hardcore Title. Reno and Johnny the Bull will be in the tournament that will crown a new champion next week. Also, Sanders said those two had some "business" to attend to. Jeff Jarrett comes out. He talks about his match with General Rection and how he won. He then mentioned something about the Total Package. Lex Luger then came out and apologized for selling out. General Rection came out and said that he and WCW fans forgive him. Storm attacked Rection from behind. Jarrett attacked Luger. Backstage, Mike Sanders calls in Lia Meow. Because she pinned him last week, she would not be featured on the Lava Lamp Lounge. Backstage, Juvy and Rey decided to have a best of five series. Backstage, Luger and Rection agree to have a match against Jarrett and Storm. Johnny the Bull takes on AWOL in one of the two semifinals of the Hardcore Title tournament. Next Thursday will be the finals. The match went back and forth. In the end, AWOL won after a chokeslam. After the match, Scott Stiener came out and attacked both Johnny and AWOL. He went to the announce booth and told them to stop talking about Goldberg and Booker. Stevie Ray got in his face and got attacked by Stiener with the lead pipe. Backstage, Stevie Ray was being attended to. He challenged Scott Stiener to a match. It's time for another edition of the Lava Lamp Lounge. Since Lia Meow couldn't join Awesome, his guest was Midajah. Mike tried to come on to her but Midajah wasn't accepting it. Then, Lia Meow came out and her and Midajah had a CATFIGHT! They, of course, destroy the set in the process. Backstage, Stiener accepted Stevie Ray's challenge. Hacksaw Duggan and Elix Skipper challenged Mark Jindrack and Sean O'Haire for the tag team titles. This was a great match. I don't see why they would put two heels in the same match, but I'm not the booker. In the end, Skipper went to the top and Major Gunns tried to hit him with a 2 x 4 but Duggan threw her to the floor. The ref was distracted asking Duggan what he was doing. AWOL came in and chokeslammed Skipper off the top rope. AWOL was leaving and Duggan chased AWOL and the two were going at it. Jindrack then set Skipper up for the Sean-ton bomb. Jindrack and O'Haire get the win. Backstage, AWOL and Duggan are still going at it. Sanders came out and threw both wrestlers out of the arena. Backstage, Elix was walking to his locker room. Sanders told him that he booked himself in a cruiserwieght title match against Skipper and Monday and is giving Skipper a tune up match right now and Skipper went back into the ring. Elix Skipper took on Kronik. As Kronik was coming to the ring, Skipper layed down for them. Kronik felt bad and left the ring. Skipper tried to jump on them but that didn't work. They squashed him for the victory. Juvy took on Rey Jr in match two of their best out of five. The winner will be the number one contender for the cruiserwieght title. The match ended after five minutes when Juvy seemed to injure his leg on the bottom rope. This was a no contest. Crowbar took on Reno in the second semifinal match. Crowbar seemed a little out of it at first but after a few minutes it was a great hardcore match. Johnny the Bull interfered and Reno locked in the "roll the dice" to win the match. Afterwards, both of them work on the ribs, but Mike Awesome makes the save. Backstage, Awesome asks Crowbar whats up with him. Crowbar said he hasn't been the same since Daffney. Awesome said he is the love doctor and will help Crowbar. The Vince Russo interview aired. He said he was the world champ. He is not a wrestler so he won't keep the title. What is he going to do with the title? Tune in on Nitro. He said he has some dirt on Flair and if Flair messes with him again, he will reveal it. He didn't know what Luger was doing at Nitro and still doesn't know. Tenay was being his heelish self and Russo didn't like it. Russo told Tenay to get wrestling boots as this Monday on Nitro, he'll be wrestling. Stevie Ray took on Scott Stiener. Scott dominated the match. In the end, Midajah tried to interfere, but the ref wanted her to leave. Stiener hit Stevie with a lead pipe and did the recliner for the victory! Lex Luger and General Rection took on Lance Storm and Jeff Jarrett in a non-sanctioned match. Luger and Jarrett paired off and Storm and Rection paired off. Luger was about to lock in the torture rack when Storm interfered. Jarrett locked in a sleeper, and as Luger was getting out of it, Jarrett tagged Storm. Konnan, filling in for Stevie on commentary, called Luger, Lex Stasiak, making refrence to his new haircut looking similar to that of Sean Stasiak's. Luger tagged in Rection and Rection cleaned house. He was going for his moonsault and Luger came in and was holding Storm down. As Rection jumped, Luger pulled Storm out of the way. Luger tried to rack Rection, but Rection was too big. He stomped on Rection a bit and then walked out. Storm put Rection in the maple leaf for the win.
