Wrestling NEWS

It kinda' sucks having to write an Update on a Sunday when no PPV really hypes up a report.

Today's Update a short seven tidbits, but they're all very big, including news on the whereabouts of Ken Shamrock, Nitro's main event, Rey Jr's return, and much more. Before we get into all that, I just wanted to give a big thanks who checked out TWW yesterday for -T-&-A- Day, in which, if you haven't seen the pictures just click *HERE* Because of the overwhelming response we got on those pictures, I'm adding the most sizzling TERRI RUNNELS, The KAT, & KIMBERLY photo's NOW! Don't miss out, and enjoy the Update!

First off, I'm sure you've heard both sides of the story regarding Kanyon wanting out of WCW. Some of you may have came across reports that Kanyon is happy with the new empowerment in WCW, while some have basically heard rumors that Kanyon just simply wants out of his WCW contract. Yesterday, "WCW: Live!" confirmed up those reports by saying that he not only *does* want out of WCW, but if he were given the offer of a contract-release, he would take it immediately. However, the show went on to explain that if Kanyon left, he wouldn't attempt a jump at the WWF ... at least not for now, considering he's pondered working stunts in Hollywood. The several offers he has gotten out of Los Angeles basically show that if he were to arrive as a stuntman, the pay would be more than worthwhile.

If you follow wrestling in the Japan scene, this might serve as some interest towards you. The J-Cup Tournament has finally ended, as yesterday former WCW cruiserweight Jushin Liger defeated Shiima Nobunaga in twelve minutes and twenty-eight seconds, when Liger pulled off two top-rope avalanche brainbusters that were simply phenomenal. For the victory, Jushin scored himself quite a bit of cash, a nice golden robe to crown him champion, and the WWWF Lightweight Belt. [Notice, I said WWWF, not WWF.]

Going back to some notes that were said on "WCW: Live!" yesterday, they commented on the whereabouts of Rey Mysterio Jr. The hosts said that when they spoke to the little guy, he explained to them that his knee injury is healing a lot slower than expected, and he's not expecting a return to the ring anytime before late-May to early-June. However, despite those negatives, Rey went on to say with the new booking style, hopefully they'll throw he and Kidman in another classic cruiserweight feud, with one of the two as the 'champ.

A few weeks ago, I reported that Ken Shamrock will not return to a WWF ring until 2001. I still stand my word on that, however, I didn't really explain what Ken will do in the meantime. Apparently, as of earlier this week, Shamrock signed a 500,000 dollar deal with PRIDE-Japan that has him in two fights against Renzo Gracie. If that last name sounds familiar, Renzo's brother, Royce, dominated the UFC in its earlier years, as well as their brother, Ryan, was arrested in Brazil earlier in the year for murder charges. I've gotten an in-pour of e-mails asking me if WCW has picked up on ECW World Champion, Mike Awesome. To tell you the truth, it does look that way from my perspective, as he missed three shows coming into this week, however, ECW owner Paul Heyman cuts down the rumor by saying it's pure B.S. Regarding further happenings in this story, Heyman went on to say that Awesome "...is under contract with ECW, and anything regarding a jump cannot and will not happen." Sure, he's the owner and he knows what he's talking about, but I have also came across confirmed reports that show Awesome's contract is similar to Tazz's in the way that he can get immediate out-clause if the timing says so. So, I guess the only well to find truth to this whole situation is to watch Nitro...

Take a second here and think of one WWF prospect that, if the WWF used right and were given a push, could be their next superstar. Ok, got him in mind? Now, answer me this: Did you pick Taka Michinokeu? Neither did I, but apparently, WWF sees something in the former Lightweight Champion, as in the next few months, Taka's position in the Federation will take a dramatic up-climb. The push could very well already have hit-off, as last Thursday on Smackdown, he and Dean Malenko had a wild battle over the LW Title, in which Dean came out victorious. Lastly, jumping back to news on tomorrow night's HUGE Nitro, fittingly, I've got a HUGE piece of exclusive news. A very close source of mine that's usually on the reliable side of results, tells me that the main event of Nitro could very well be a *TRIPLE-DECK CAGE MATCH.* Now, this may sound familiar if you've already seen "Ready to Rumble," because in the movie's "main event," a Triple-Deck Cage match was used as well. I'm not saying this will be the case, so don't hold me to my source's input, but this my friends would be SIMPLY AMAZING...
