News Gallery Last night, at one point, I sat back and realized I had just turned off "The Best of Nitro", which could be looked at as the history of Hulk Hogan, and turned it to RAW to see The Big Show doing his version of Scotty 2 Hotty's "worm." Aye Carumba! I know I ripped on WrestleMania, but last nights Pro Wrestling programming was horrific. I was glad to see The Rock remain as a face, while the only thing I did like on the "Best of Nitro" was seeing Brian Pillman vs. Jushin Liger again, which was a classic. Anyway, that's my thoughts, and enjoy the Update... *I know some people out there just like getting straight to the news, but I throw this plug in here because it could be beneficial to your privilege of being a wrestling fan. If you're looking for the best all-around Wrasslin' site, you've just found TWW.* Anyway, NOW into the news... First off, the April 10th return-Nitro looks to be a packed show. Bischoff and Russo aren't holding anything back for the show, except for the fact that Bret Hart will not be there, while Sid and DDP remain questionable. However, I've heard that such WCW superstars as Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, Booker T., Kidman, Hulk Hogan, and many others will be on-hand for possibly the biggest Nitro of the year. If things go well, Vince Russo's even trying to arrange to get both of the injured Outsiders, Hall and Nash, to appear. Speaking of WCW superstars, Roddy Piper has apparently been keeping busy by booking himself into independent shows..., and then proceeding not to show them. As odd as that may sound, Piper actually over-promoted he and Bret Hart appearing at The Vicky Gabreau Show in Canada, for an example, and then simply no-showed, while Hart knew nothing of the subject. So, to all those promoters out there that have spoke with Roddy Piper about making an appearance, chances are slim he'll keep his promise... One of Maryland's largest newspapers, The Baltimore Sun, recently sat down for a one-on-one with The Rock. The Rock actually revealed a lot in this exclusive, saying that people don't just view him as "a color" but as a well-respected sports-entertainer. Rocky also said that he is changing around the sport, and it will soon be viewed as the reality it is. One more interesting note he threw by was he said he's interested in going heel again, but not for a while. Today's odd stories continue, because this one's just taken a wicked turn. I'm sure you've heard the whole deal about Brad Armstrong's knee injury, with Juvy and Psychosis bashing a car into it accidentally. Well, from what I've just heard, Juventud and Psychosis may have actually been intoxicated or high when they were messing around with their rental car on Brad. The story goes that Brad was about ten feet away from the car, when Juventud thought it'd be funny to pretend to hit him. They hit the breaks moments for the collision, and ended up barely nicking Brad's leg, tearing up several tendons and ligaments in the knee. If this is the case, and WCW finds out, expect severe punishment to take effect for their actions. In some WrestleMania after-notes, it's now been confirmed that the Hardcore Battle Royal's finish was messed up in some fashion. Putting together the information I've came across, it seems as if Bob Holly was supposed to only reach a three count before the fifteen minutes ran out, leaving Crash with his belt in a clean defense. However, Tazz's choke-hold was either started too early, or ended before schedule, because once Holly hit the two with the Snicker's jar, it left four seconds on the clock, clearly leaving enough time for the three count. The referee didn't want to make a slow, obviously noticeable count, so, he just went on his own and rang the bell for Bob's victory. Since these weren't WWF's plans, that's why you saw Crash earn back the belt last night on RAW. Normally, I'd save something this big for my final tidbit, but I've got something a little bigger in-store. Anyway, as I was saying, Viacom made a HUGE announcement last night, saying they have completed the purchase of UPN, and overall buying 50% of Chris Craft's "BHC Communications" for $5 million. Now, this whole deal does have a somewhat large effect on WWF television, as Smackdown might be thrown out of the lineup [as rumored] and if the deal goes even further, USA's "RAW" might be moved to the TNN Network, leaving ECW in a bit of a precarious position. Lastly, as you all know, today is a big day for Shawn Michaels. One of the WWF's most prolific wrestlers ever, HBK, will wrestle his final match EVER tonight at a card in Texas being billed as "4/4 For History!" Tonight, it'll all go down at the Far West Rodeo, in TWA's hometown of San Antonio, where Shawn will square off with former TWA Champ', Venom. The whole thing started when HBK brought his buddy, Justin Credible, in for one match, in which he defeated the then TWA Champion, Venom, for that belt. At the end of that particular show, Justin gave Shawn the title and pronounced him as the "new" TWA Champion. The whole storyline says that Venom wants his revenge, and will do ANYTHING to get his gold back...
